Moonbeam Economic Development Corporation (CDEM) is an autonomous, community-based organization dedicated to community economic development.
Its role is to mobilize, support, and promote local initiatives—businesses, entrepreneurs, organizations, and community projects—to strengthen Moonbeam’s economic, tourism, and social vitality.
While municipal functions relate to zoning, permits, regulations, infrastructure and municipal services, community economic development focuses on local business support, community engagement, tourism development, local promotion, and advancing innovative and sustainable projects.

About the Position
The Moonbeam EDC is seeking an Executive Director – Economic Development to oversee the organization and lead its community economic development and tourism initiatives.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director:
- manages all administrative, financial, and operational functions;
- supervises permanent and seasonal staff;
- coordinates entrepreneurial, tourism, and community development projects;
- develops and maintains strategic partnerships;
- represents CDEM in regional networks;
- engages with and supports the local business community.
Key Responsibilities (Summary)
- Leadership & Governance: support to the Board, strategic planning, reporting.
- Administrative & Financial Management: budgeting, grants, compliance, internal operations.
- Human Resources: supervision, recruitment, training, performance management.
- Community Economic Development: business support, local initiatives, project coordination.
- Tourism & Place-Marketing: visitor services, marketing campaigns, community promotion.
- Partnerships & Engagement: collaboration with regional organizations, businesses, and stakeholders.

Candidate Profile (Summary)
- University degree in business administration, economics, regional development, project management, or related field.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in management, economic development, non-profit leadership, or public administration.
- Strong skills in financial management, HR, project management, and partnerships.
- Excellent communication skills in English and French.
- Strategic thinker with strong leadership, autonomy, and multitasking ability.
Position Details
- Full-time permanent position (35–40 hrs/week).
- Flexible schedule; occasional evenings and weekends.
- Hybrid work arrangement possible (office / field / remote).
- Frequent travel within Northern Ontario.
